The "Synergy Project” is a Web site intended as a platform on current applied research and practical implementation of linking financial services with business services that contribute to pro poor enterprise development, income and job creation. The site – available in both English and Spanish- builds on research and implementation reports of practical field experiences of Microfinance Institutions and other players in linking services in a (financially) sustainable manner. While focusing on enterprise and value chain development it also draws on other approaches that share the challenge posed by the pro poor linkage of services that are very different in nature. We strongly recommend to pay special attention to the Value Chain Finance section.

This guide addresses Value Chain development from a market development perspective with a unique focus on how to achieve Decent Work. The essential question is thus: how can we achieve competitiveness while creating new jobs and income opportunities for men and women and promoting better working standards in value chains?
